Joe uses the stylus for much of his encaustic art work. This low-heat tool allows lines and spots to be applied and gives much the same control as a line drawing pen. It also has the ability to blend the colours because the heat is solvent to the coloured waxes and thus any heated tool is also the solvent. This allows the wax paint to be "unfrozen" at any future time.
