one of a set of twelve images created for a greetings card range at the start of the 1990's. the printed reproduction cards were all A5 images (148 x 210mm). this one, titled "close to spring" began with the sky created using the drag through method on the hotplate. whilst still molten the coating of wax was then blown using a hot air gun, making a smoother form . The landscape was made with the iron . the stream was formed by rubbing with tissue; as the friction builds heat the wax softens and starts to rub off, leaving lighter areas. the waterfall comes about by using a swooshing down stroke from the iron, then a little addition of white wax from the stylus or crayoned on with the blocks directly in place. the details of the tree, flowers, dragonflies & and so on were added with the the low heat stylus tool.
