This very subtle technique is interesting because the wax is first applied to a piece of absorbent tissue, then the iron is used to heat through the waxed tissue and indirectly melt it off onto the card surface.


Many watercolourists and others who already paint find this approach to encaustic very appealing and 'arty'. The possibilities are endless for developing images in this manner.
