first use the stylus to draw or splash on the lighter colours - here no.04 golden yellow & no.03 orange - then add the main colours onto the iron's base, and whilst molten place the edge of the iron upright onto the water colour paper (or other absorbent papers) so that it is vertical with the straight edge flat down on the card. next push forward, like a bulldozer pushing the wax colour along. keep a firm downward pressure on the iron's edge so that not much colour remains behind, really just what has been absorbed into the paper. beautiful things can happen in this approach.
