bands of no.13 red brown, no.08 blue green & no.18 prussian blue (or no.46 cyan) were melted direct from the blocks, like crayoning, but onto a white card being held on top of the upturned iron's base plate. this mini hotplate set-up enables all sorts of work to be created. first the background was all wiped softly with tissue in one direction. then the spiral form, crossing lines and dots were added by using a cotton wool tipped stick - cotton wool "buds" are very useful sometimes. finally the outer area was textured by dabbing into remaining or added blue and brown wax until a nice ragged feel came into place.
