Use the upturned iron as a mini hotplate (see link below for more about how to do this) then melt the wax colours on directly. an end of scruffy tissue is then used to gently rub or dab the wax, creating patterns. a strip of masking tape (paper type) can be used to hold the card being worked on in place, especially if larger hotplates are used. this will then leave a narrow white strip along one edge which can late be cut off if desired.
