smooth colours onto the card in the "band" style, so that they do not overmix. then create evenly wide borders around the central area, to form a framing effect. practise with abstracts then go onto create more detailed images in the centre areas that can benefit from the nice framing in harmonic colours and sympathetic pattern forms.
