black card (various sizes) is the base support for this abstract voyage into the cosmos. only white wax was used to keep the contrast acute and emphasise the variety of fine spots blended with a blown transparent to opaque central area. the spots were applied with hot wax on a firm bristled brush. dip the fibres into molten wax then pass the ends of the bristles across the edge of a piece of card so that they spatter the droplets of wax onto the black card. repeat until sufficient spots are achieved. loading and flicking the brush will offer a variety of spot sizes but lacks such control as the card spattering. during the spattering some wax was blown using hot air tools to create the areas and progression from opaque white to translucent ghostly vapour like areas. spattering then continued over this to enhance the final piece.
