the very pale background sky was created first of all, using the finger rubbing method. the landscape is a single "drag coating" created on the hotplate. basically the wax colours are melted direct onto the hotplate surface, then the painting card is gently rested in them and dragged or "swiped" through the wax, collecting a coating of the coloured molten wax as it travels across its surface. then the low heat stylus tool was used, employing the drawing tip. the original sandpiper image was drawn from reference material and adapted to suit this quiet piece of work.
